Title: Family Trajectories and Mental Health
Abstract: Family trajectories have grown more complex over time, yet their health impacts remain underexplored. This study uses data from the British Cohort Study to examine how these evolving paths affect mid-life mental health for men and women born in 1958 and 1970. Results show that diverse family trajectories, including singlehood and childlessness, negatively impacted men’s mental health in 1970, while non traditional paths affected women in both cohorts.
