Two researchers from CED, Ewa Batyra and Ariane Ophir, have received a Starting Grant from the European Research Council. Congratulations!

This grant is a testament to their innovative research ideas and potential for significant contributions to their fields. The two selected projects are:

Ewa Batyra: Project “Diverging Patterns of Reproductive Behavior within Countries across the Globe”-DIVREP. The project, which will be carried out over the next five years, will investigate patterns, trends, and determinants of increasing within-country disparities in childbearing age and fertility levels. By taking a cross-country comparative perspective and focusing on over 120 high- as well as low- and middle-income countries, DIVREP will make innovative contributions to our understanding of global fertility change.

Ariane Ophir: Project “Understanding the Demography and Stratification of Singlehood in Europe”-SINGLE, is a comparative social-demographic project examining the population dynamics and social inequalities of singlehood within and across European countries. With an original survey collection, the project will shed light on the range of opportunities and challenges singles in Europe face today and the individual and contextual factors that drive them.
