Juana Ramírez is currently a Research Assistant at the Centre d’Estudis Demogràfics (CED) in Barcelona, Spain, supporting a Ramón y Cajal research project. She is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Sociology: Transformaciones Sociales e Innovación at the Universitat de Barcelona. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia).
Her research lies at the intersection of gender studies, social policy, and the sociology of care, with a particular focus on how caregiving practices and public care infrastructures shape women’s autonomy and well-being in contemporary Colombia. Her work examines the recognition of women’s unpaid care work, the social and economic value of caregiving knowledge, and the potential of community-based care models as drivers of social innovation and gender equality.
