Joan Román García is PhD in Demography from the University of Barcelona and researcher at the Centre for Demographic Studies, currently as a Ramón y Cajal researcher. His research career has been linked to CED where he participated in projects funded by different institutions and organisms as national and international. He has been student of the European Doctoral School of Demography (2008-2009) under which took research stays at INED in Paris and at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock. Between July 2013 and November 2016, he worked as a research associate at the Minnesota Population Center at the University of Minnesota in the IPUMS Time Use project. During 2017, he got a Juan de la Cierva Incorporación fellow and in 2018-19 the Beatriu de Pinós fellow from AGAUR. He has worked in a wide range of topics in the field of demography and has specialized in the analysis of time use data. His research has been published in the most important journals in the field of demography such as Demography, Population and Development Review, Demographic Research or Population, Space and Place. He has received the Observatorio Social de la Caixa 2017 award to the best work in the field of social inclusion.
