I am a demographer and sociologist with an interest in the analysis of mortality trends. My research mostly focuses on: mortality shocks (period effects) during epidemics and pandemics; influence of birth cohort and generation membership (cohort effects) on mortality; and behaviorally driven mortality. From a methodological perspective, I have specialized in the analysis of Age, Period, and Cohort (APC) effects on mortality, excess mortality estimation, and demographic decomposition analysis
