Antonio López-Gay is currently an Associated Professor at the Department of Geography of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and Senior Researcher at the Center for Demographic Studies (CED- CERCA). He holds a PhD in Demography (UAB) (CTESC Award-2007) and a Bachelor Degree in Geography. He is an urban demographer and his research unravels questions related to three major dimensions: population dynamics, urban transformation and social and territorial inequality. His studies explore the changes in the socio-demographic composition in environments undergoing gentrification processes or with high pressure from urban tourism, the role of residential mobility in the socio-spatial reconfiguration of urban areas, the mobility of human capital in migration, and the attraction of Mediterranean cities to highly skilled migrants and temporary populations. He worked during three years as a postdoctoral researcher at the IPUMS-International project of the University of Minnesota (USA). He also enjoyed research stays at the Núcleo de Estudos de População of the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Brazil) and at the Population Research Centre of the University of Groningen (The Netherlands).
