I am a professor in population studies at the Centre for Demographic and Aging Research (CEDAR) at Umeå University and a senior researcher at the Centre d’Estudis Demogràfics (CED). I defended my thesis at the Institute of Statistics and Demography at the Warsaw School of Economics, during that period I was involved as a guest researcher at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES) and the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Germany. My international experiences include also a postdoc at the Sociology Department of Umeå University and, more recently, a visiting professor stay at the LIVES Centre in Lausanne. Overall, my background combines economics, sociology and demography.
My research investigates processes linking labour market inequalities, families and well-being, with funding from research councils such as the National Science Centre in Poland, the Swedish Research Council (VR), the ERSTE foundation, the Global Development Network and the Horizon 2020 Programme. My research often adopts a lifecourse perspective and uses longitudinal large-scale surveys or register data, mostly from Nordic countries. I regularly present my work at large international conferences such as the European Population Conference, the European Consortium for Sociological Research annual conference and the Population Association of America annual meeting. I (co-)author 38 articles published in peer-reviewed journals such as Advances in Life Course Research, Demographic Research, European Journal of Ageing, European Sociological Review, Feminist Economics, Journal of European Social Policy, Population Studies, Work Employment & Society. In addition, I have contributed 5 book chapters with internationally recognized publishers such as the Stanford University Press and the Policy Press. I also regularly engage in a dialogue with a broader audience by contributing research briefs published by Population Europe and by organizing open public events.
